Intuitive Timing Display
The main metronome display shows the number of beats per bar in the center circle, with beat intervals (or subdivisions) displayed in the outer circle.
The beat and interval segments count in time with the click, giving a novel and intuitive representation of musical measures and time signatures – this is particularly useful if you are working in a complex time signature or if you learning concepts of musical timing, counting and time signatures.
Programmable Click Sequencer
With Atomic, you can design the click sequence by choosing which beats and sub-divisions are audible and a which are silent. This allows you to set the click only on the offbeat, or in a shuffle pattern, or to whatever sequence you require to help you play.
You can also choose to audibly accent the first beat of each bar, and you can switch off the interval sound and display all together if you prefer a more simple setup.
Tempo Advance Mode
Tempo advance mode allows you to set the metronome’s tempo to increase or decrease every time a specified number of bars complete. For example, you can choose for the tempo to increase by 5 bpm every 2 bars, or you could set it to reduce by 1 bpm every 4 bars.
This is great for working up your performance speed and extending your technique for playing faster, as well as challenging your control at slower tempos.
Silent Click-Gap Mode
Silent click-gap mode allows you to practice staying in time with the click muted for a short period of time. For example the click can play for 12 beats (3 bars at 4 beats per bar) before becoming silent for a 4 beat (1 bar) gap.
You can practice staying in time by your own internal clock, and perfectly hitting the correct beat when the click becomes audible again.
Moving Click Mode
You can use Atomic to create a moving click that plays on a different subdivision on each beat. You can select for the beat to be one sub-division greater or shorter than a single beat. This feature assisted with understanding and experimenting with polyrhythms.
For example, if you use 4 beats and 4 subdivisions per beat, you can set the click to sound every 3 subdivisions, so you hear a click every 3, even though you are counting in 4s.
You can create, copy, arrange and sort all your setlist and tempos/time signatures for all the songs you practice or play live too. This is an essential feature if you play live gigs to a click. Once you have created your setlist, you can quickly move from one setting to another as you play through the show.
Simple, editing and copying of tracks and playlists make it easy to make changes for new shows and setlist teaks for different events you may be playing at.
Click Sound Designer
You can adjust many sonic aspects of Atomic’s beat and beat division click sounds. The pitch of each can be selected from A5 through the musical octave to A6. You can also change the tonality of the beat or beat division click from a dull thud to something more musical with harmonic overtones.
You can extend the click duration so it resonates for longer, or shorten it to be quite snappy. The relative volumes of the beat and beat division clicks can be set also. There are preset sounds for you to choose from too!
You’ll most likely want to go straight to the Colors tab and set the Atomic display to your personal color choice. You can choose any colour you like and let Atomic represent your personality or mood at any moment in time!
